Nova Sports understands that a number of the top Premier League clubs have been informed of the potential availability of Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar.
With 17 goals and 16 assists in just 28 games, the Brazilian international is having a fantastic season in Paris, but PSG’s recent struggles have raised questions about his long-term future in the French city.
The 31-year-contract old’s with PSG runs through 2025; however, sources have told Nova Sports that several Premier League teams have been approached about a potential deal. PSG is not in a hurry to offload Neymar, but they are reportedly open to the possibility of his departure at the end of the current campaign.
In fact, it’s thought that middlemen have spoken to Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle to let them know that Neymar is interested in playing in the Premier League and may be available.
During a recent meeting between Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and PSG counterpart Nasser Al-Khelaifi, which was intended to cover other topics, Neymar’s name is also believed to have come up.
In an effort to strengthen his contacts, Boehly has regularly met with a number of top business leaders across Europe. It is believed that he booked a meeting with Al-Khelaifi to discuss the unsuccessful loan transfer of Hakim Ziyech, whose movement to PSG was not completed in time last month.
Although Ziyech was the major topic of conversation, Boehly is thought to have been open to making a high-profile acquisition like Neymar. Boehly has reportedly been labeled as “intrigued” by Neymar’s potential availability by sources.
Neymar has had a rocky time in France since arriving at PSG in the summer of 2017 in a record-breaking €222 million move. The Brazilian has won four Ligue 1 championships, but he hasn’t been able to lead his team to the Champions League triumph that was expected after his signing.
PSG is on track to win another league championship this year, but after losing to Bayern Munich on Tuesday, they are already out of the Cup de France and face another early exit from Europe.
