Bellator 296: Gegard Mousasi vs. Fabian Edwards took place live on Friday night from the Accor Arena in Paris, France, and we have the results and highlights for you!

The group traveled across the Atlantic for a card in the “City of Lights” for the second year in a row. The heavyweight champion Ryan Bader brought title stakes to the French city on his visit the previous year. Even though there was no gold on the line this time, the event was nonetheless significant in a number of fields.

The middleweight legend Gegard Mousasi competed in the main event for the first time since he was defeated by Johnny Eblen for the 185-pound belt in June.

The Englishman Fabian Edwards outpointed “The Dreamcatcher” to earn the chance to join brother Leon Edwards as an MMA champion with a third consecutive victory. The Dutchman’s attempt to earn a chance at redemption was unsuccessful.

In the co-main event’s opening round of the 155-pound Grand Prix, hometown favorite Mansour Barnaoui faced off against former Bellator lightweight champion Brent Primus.

After a five-round battle in the French capital, the American eventually raised his hand and declared himself the winner. Primus will now face Usman Nurmagomedov’s second challenger after advancing to the semifinals.

In another fight, former welterweight champion Douglas Lima successfully ended his career’s worst losing streak by moving up to middleweight. Costello van Steenis was outpaced by him by fifteen minutes. And in the evening’s finest performance, Frenchman Thibault Gouti raised his hand in Paris once more before ruthlessly dispatching Kane Mousah to start the primary event.
