Vinicius Junior, a winger for Real Madrid, reportedly has no plans to leave the Bernabeu despite encountering yet another racist taunt during Sunday’s game against Valencia.
Over the past few years, Vinicius has made a name for himself as one of the world’s most agile strikers. He was nominated for the 2022 Ballon d’Or after scoring 22 goals across all competitions for Real last season. This season, he has already surpassed that total with 23 goals.
But throughout the campaign, racist chants and taunts have repeatedly been directed towards the Brazilian. The recent incident at the Mestalla was only the most recent one.
In the wake of the Valencia game, Vinicius asserted that “racism is normal” within the league and openly criticized La Liga’s attitude to the several events this season. He said that his native Brazil now views Spain as “a country of racists” as a result. “The championship that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano [Ronaldo], and [Lionel] Messi today belongs to racists,” he stated.
Several internal sources claimed that the club is furious about the problem’s persistence. They have Vinicius’ full support and are prepared to take on La Liga or anyone else to see that he receives justice.
Vinicius himself is content at Real and has no desire to leave. The player is eager to stay in the Spanish capital for a number of reasons, including his friendship with coach Carlo Ancelotti, who has a contract that runs through at least the conclusion of the upcoming season.
Since joining the team again in 2021, Ancelotti has guided Vinicius in realizing his full potential, watching him go from a gifted teenager to a key game-changer.
