Spain narrowly defeated Italy 2-1 to clinch a spot in the UEFA Nations League final for the second time thanks to a goal from Joselu.

The striker had barely been on the field for five minutes when he scored from close range to give La Roja the lead again after a string of squandered opportunities.

Yeremy Pino took advantage of a mistake by Leonardo Bonucci to put Luis de la Fuente’s team ahead after just three minutes of play.

Ciro Immobile scored from the spot when Robin Le Normand fouled him, but Spain quickly responded. Davide Frattesi also then had a goal disallowed for offside.

Although Spain had the majority of the possession, Alvaro Morata had a few shots blocked before halftime, and Mikel Merino pushed Gianluigi Donnarumma into a remarkable save by tipping the ball against the bar.

The pressure eventually paid off when Joselu converted from close range to restore Spain’s advantage and set up a final against Croatia. They nearly paid for those wasted opportunities when Frattesi was magnificently denied by Unai Simon at the other end.
