According to various news reports, Steven Gerrard is considering accepting a job offer as coach of Saudi club Al Ettifaq.
“Al-Ettifaq made an offer to Gerrard. He welcomed the idea, but asked for time to study the offer,” the source said.
The 43-year-old former Liverpool captain resigned as Aston Villa’s coach in October of last year following a string of defeats.
Before that, Gerrard guided Rangers to the Scottish Premier League championship in 2020–2021 while they went the entire season without suffering a loss.
Last season, Al-Ettifaq finished eighth in the Saudi Pro League.
After Al Nassr paid a hefty fee to get Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of last December, and after Karim Benzema, the former captain of Real Madrid, joined Al Ittihad last week, the Saudi league has gained significant attention.
