Marcus Rashford is about to agree to a lucrative new deal with Manchester United.
For the majority of the previous year, the 25-year-old and his boyhood club have been in contract negotiations. His contract was due to end this summer, but Man Utd used a clause that allowed for an extension so they could continue their negotiations.
Rashford will reportedly receive the highest salary at Man Utd thanks to a settlement that the two parties have reached.
The contract is now being finalized, and the club hopes to make the extended announcement before Rashford reports for preseason practice the following month.
The fact that the forward’s current contract has only a short amount of time left has never worried Man Utd, but they have long been eager to finalize a new contract.
Although Rashford has long been a favorite of Paris Saint-Germain and they have always been open to a transfer, Rashford ultimately wants to stay at Old Trafford.
After having his worst statistical season in 2021/22, scoring just five goals in 32 games across all competitions and losing his spot in the England squad, Rashford’s Man Utd career came under scrutiny.
He played a significant part in Man Utd’s victory in the Carabao Cup and top-four Premier League finish, but he was the team’s star player in their first season under Erik ten Hag, scoring a career-high 30 goals in 56 games. Additionally, he has reclaimed his position in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions lineup.
While the controversy surrounding Marcus Rashford’s contract is almost ended, David de Gea, the club’s best paid player at the moment, has an uncertain future.
Although they are actively searching the market for a new goalkeeper as well, negotiations with the Spaniard, whose current contract expires at the end of the month, are still continuing on.
