Conor McGregor is having a tremendously strong month. His new Netflix documentary series “McGregor Forever” will debut on May 17. The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 31 will then begin on ESPN on May 30, 2023. The day “The Notorious” intends to return to the ring, though, is the one that most fans find to be crucial.
We still don’t know when that will be, and UFC President Dana White insists he’s unaware of the situation. After the UFC on ABC event in Charlotte, North Carolina, White was questioned about McGregor vs. Chandler.
“I don’t know. That’s the most-asked question I’m getting right now,” White said. “Obviously, the season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ airs soon, and during that season we will be working very hard to put that fight together.”
TUF 31: Team McGregor vs. Team Chandler is scheduled to take place from May 30 to August 15, 2023. Initially, it was believed that the two coaches would face off in September. Given that McGregor is still not a participant in the United States Anti-Doping Agency’s (USADA) drug testing program, it is starting to seem a little dubious. After breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, McGregor was let to leave the program so that physicians could treat it. He must spend six months swimming again before he can compete, according to procedure.
The USADA testing database as of May 15, 2023, reveals no outcomes for McGregor this year. He would be able to compete in mid-November if he re-entered the program today.
That is, if he is made to through the typical six-month process, which USADA has formally recommended he do. That restriction may be waived by UFC, allowing McGregor to come back after just two negative tests. With Miesha Tate and Brock Lesnar, the promotion has achieved this in the past. Even though McGregor recently underwent a dubious growth spurt from Lightweight to Welterweight, many anticipate that he will receive the same consideration.
What is therefore taking so long?
White doesn’t provide any information as to why some details haven’t been worked out, therefore it’s unclear why this is happening. We are left to blame McGregor, his wounded leg, and whatever is going on with his hormone levels after Chandler admitted he had no idea, too.
