Casey O’Neill and Viviane Arajo, UFC flyweights, are expected to square off on August 5 at a future UFC Fight Night.
On Wednesday, Meni Mayer of MMA Island was the first to break the news of the O’Neill vs. Arajo booking.
O’Neill makes a comeback to exact revenge for her first-ever defeat against Jennifer Maia at UFC 286 in March. Prior to then, she defeated Lara Fritzen and Antonina Shevchenko in her first four UFC matches.
O’Neill sustained injuries following a split decision victory over Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 271, which led to a one-year absence. Her first bout after a break ended in a unanimous decision loss against Maia.
Arajo will present O’Neill with yet another difficult challenge. She still poses a threat in the women’s flyweight division despite suffering back-to-back defeats to Amanda Ribas and Alexa Grasso.
Nearly precisely a year ago, Arajo defeated Andrea Lee and won. Throughout her time in the UFC, she has also triumphed over opponents like Modafferi, Montana De La Rosa, and Alexis Davis.
As of this writing, the August 5th event does not have a main event match. The card’s location and venue have not yet been made public.
