Busquets made the decision to leave Camp Nou at the end of the season and has since joined MLS team Inter Miami, where he will once again play alongside Lionel Messi, a former colleague from Barcelona.
Xavi recently expressed his desire for midfield reinforcements this summer, declaring: “The departure of Sergio Busquets is a big problem for me. Frenkie [de Jong] has stepped up, but I need creative players in midfield.”
Brozovic has three more years left on the long-term contract he signed at San Siro in 2022 and led Inter in the Champions League earlier this month. However, rumors claim that Al-Nassr of the aspirational Saudi Pro League has held discussions with both the player and the team.
Barcelona is also interested in the 30-year-old Croatian international and is trying to talk him out of staying in Europe and accepting the opportunity to transfer to the Middle East.
Having had preliminary discussions with Brozovic’s representation and intending to put together their own package, Barça have requested him to hold off before making a definitive choice. There hasn’t yet been a proposal made for Inter to examine, though.
