There’s little doubt that the international break came at a good time for Sevilla, who had lost their previous three La Liga games. Since then, they have gone unbeaten in all competitions, and that streak was extended on Tuesday with a 5-1 victory against Almeria at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Jose Luis Mendilibar’s team got off to a fast start, with Youssef En-Nesyri scoring just seven minutes. They extended their lead 60 seconds later, thanks to a spectacular solo goal by Dode Lukebakio.

Suso got in on the act for Los Nervionenses with a wonderful shot from outside the penalty area, making it 3-0 before halftime.

That caps an absolutely dominant first half for the hosts, who added a fourth early in the second half when Erik Lamela converted from an Adria Pedrosa cross. There would be no clean sheet, though, as Luis Suarez converted from the penalty spot to put the score 4-1.

Nonetheless, Kike Salas added Sevilla’s fifth goal of the match in the 92nd minute of stoppage time.

For the time being, the win brings Sevilla up to 11th, which will be a huge relief for the Andalusians. Almeria remain at the bottom of the standings, having won none of their first seven games.
