Another European soccer league is set to return in the coming weeks. Italy’s Serie A is set for a June 13 return date, according to James Horncastle of The Athletic. The clubs will begin training again in groups next week.
Serie A will join Bundesliga and the English Premier League in resuming its season in the coming weeks and months, while France’s Ligue 1 and 2 have canceled the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Here’s what the top of the standings looked before the season was halted due to COVID-19:
- Juventus: 20-3-3, 63 points
- Lazio: 19-5-2, 62 points
- Inter Milan: 16-6-3, 54 points
- Atalanta: 14-6-5, 48 points
- Roma: 13-6-7, 45 points
- Napoli: 11-6-9, 39 points
- AC Milan: 10-6-10, 36 points
Juventus are the reigning Serie A champions, and it’s likely they defend their title with Cristiano Ronaldo in the fold.
Speaking of Ronaldo, the 35-year-old has been training with his son in order to stay in shape for a possible return.
Now that the league reportedly will resume next month, Ronaldo and the other Serie A players will need to kick their training up a notch in order to be fully ready to compete.
