ONE Championship will return to American primetime with ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov on Friday, June 9, just one month after holding its inaugural event on American territory.
The main event of the 10-fight bill, which comes from Bangkok, Thailand’s famed Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, will be a fight for the ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title between reigning two-sport champion Regian Eersel and burgeoning challenger Dmitry Menshikov.
Additionally, in the co-main event, Kade Ruotolo, the current ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Champion, will defend his title against Tommy Langaker of Europe.
Eersel has seemed unstoppable for a number of years.
The Surinamese superstar is now on a 21-fight winning streak and has a 60-4 career record. He also proudly has the ONE Lightweight World Championships in both kickboxing and muay thai.
He entered Lumpinee Boxing Stadium for his most recent promotional appearance, when he defeated Thai rival Sinsamut Klinmee with a body shot to keep his Muay Thai title.
The divisional kingpin is now the target of the advancing Menshikov. The Russian is on an 11-fight winning streak and has a record of 27-2. He has the ability to overthrow Eersel because he has 19 knockouts in his professional career.
While the main event will feature top-notch striking, the co-main event will feature two of the best pound-for-pound grapplers on the planet.
In a bout that has BJJ fans salivating, Ruotolo will challenge Langaker for the ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Title and defend his undefeated black belt record.
In his three promotional appearances, the American sensation has displayed nothing less than transcendental talent, dominating his rivals with a high-flying, aggressive style and superior technical skill.
Meanwhile, Langaker has long been regarded as the best BJJ black belt in Europe. The Norwegian grappler should be Ruotolo’s toughest test to date as he opened his ONE career with two victories and two US$50,000 performance bonuses.
Superbon Singha Mawynn, a former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion, fights Turkish scrapper and #5-ranked Tayfun Ozcan lower on the card in an attempt to go back on the winning track.
Top-ranked Superbon, who is still regarded as one of the best strikers in the world pound-for-pound, will pit his thundering power and deft technical skills against “Turbine’s” unrelenting aggression in a fight that is likely to keep spectators on the edge of their seats for the duration of the fight.
Nieky Holzken, the top-ranked featherweight MMA fighter in the world, Ilya Freymanov, and heavyweight knockout artists Guto Inocente and Rade Opacic are also on the bill.
