Mason Mount agrees personal terms with Man Utd

Prior to a prospective summer transfer, Mason Mount’s representation have reached an agreement on personal terms with Manchester United, various news outlets have reported.

The 24-year-old’s contract expires in 2024, and Chelsea has informed the midfielder that if no extension is reached, he will be moved.

Although negotiations for a new contract have stagnated recently, Chelsea has never given up hope of convincing their homegrown hero to stay.

However, Tony Mount, Mount’s father, has grown increasingly upset with Chelsea’s stance and handling of the problem, leading them to look for alternatives.

Although Mount has had conversations with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle, Manchester United has moved to the front of the line to recruit him. According to sources, Mount’s representatives are “pleased” with the terms offered and United’s ambitions for him should he successfully consummate a move to Old Trafford.

The fee of any trade, which has not yet been agreed between the two clubs, could be one remaining problem. Mount is thought to be worth roughly £50 million to United, but Chelsea believes he is worth more like £75 million.

If Mount were to go, the Blues’ midfield would undergo a significant change given they are also selling Mateo Kovacic, who, like Mount, has one year left on his contract and has declined a new one. They have not yet agreed on terms with N’Golo Kante, who might go in the upcoming weeks for nothing.

This summer, Erik Ten Hag and United are primarily interested in a new midfielder, a defender, and a new number nine.

Chelsea claims they still have hope. Mauricio Pochettino, the club’s new manager, was scheduled to meet with Mount this week, but it’s thought that because of the England international’s deep-seated problems with the team, it will be tough to convince him to stay.
