Diogo Dalot signs new five-year contract with Manchester United

Diogo Dalot has renewed his contract with Manchester United through June 2028, with an additional year’s option, the club has announced.

The Portuguese international Dalot, who is mostly a right full-back but can also play on the left side, has had a successful season under new United coach Erik ten Hag, and the Dutchman has been eager to complete a deal for the player.

Dalot has officially signed on the dotted line to extend his contract past next summer after United and the player and his representatives reached an agreement on conditions. United has used a one-year extension mechanism in the contract to extend the original arrangement, which was originally set to expire in 2023, giving them more time to find a long-term contract.

Now that an agreement has been reached, United’s summer plans are off to a good start. Marcus Rashford and David de Gea are anticipated to follow Dalot in the near future and extend their own contracts.

“We have shared some fantastic moments over the past five years, and I’ve grown so much and my passion for this incredible club has only increased since the day that I joined.

“That drive continues this week with everyone intensely focused on preparations for the FA Cup final.”

In this weekend’s FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley, United will try to win a domestic cup double. Dalot’s participation is currently in doubt because Ten Hag has recently preferred opponent Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
