Manchester City were not able to retain their Premier League title this season.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is looking to sign three players in this summer’s transfer window, it’s been claimed. The four-time Premier League champions will be looking to regain the title next season from Liverpool.
And Guardiola reportedly feels he needs three new signings to do that.
First, the Spaniard wants to improve in the left-back area, and has pinpointed David Alaba, according to The Mirror.
It’s thought that Inter Milan have also earmarked Alaba as a potential new signing.
City also want to strengthen at centre-back, while Guardiola will also explore the option of buying a new forward.
Sergio Aguero’s time at City will come to an end next summer when his contract runs out and the Argentine is yet to sign a new deal.
Gabriel Jesus isn’t likely to become City’s first-choice forward.
City have struggled at centre-back this season and have had to deal with injuries to Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi.
The Mirror also state that Kalidou Kouibaly is being looked at as a potential centre-back option.
But aged 29, and with Napoli wanting a large fee, City may want to rethink their advances.
Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake has long been looked at by City, and he could be another defensive option.
One thing that will affect City’s ability to attract players this summer is whether they’re in the Champions League next season.
They will find out on Monday after an appeal to UEFA over their two-year ban from the competition.
City have four games of the season left and will want to finish as strongly as possible.
They thrashed Newcastle on Wednesday night 5-0, following a 1-0 loss to Southampton at the weekend.
Liverpool won their first league in 30 years after City lost to Chelsea two weeks ago at Stamford Bridge.
