Chelsea are aiming to make Joao Felix‘s loan from Atletico Madrid permanent, according to Nova Sports.
Felix arrived on a six-month loan in January, with the Blues paying up to £16 million in loan fees and salary for the 23-year-old and agreeing to a contract with no option to buy.
Felix’s time in London began disastrously when he was sent off on his debut, forcing him to miss three games before making his long-awaited return with a goal against West Ham.
Despite his short playing time, Felix has already had a significant impression for Chelsea, and fans have grown fond of the Portugal international. The Blues have been equally impressed, according to sources who have revealed to Nova Sports.
Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have already held talks about a possible permanent signing for Felix, who has hinted that he would be willing to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer.
Chelsea is concerned about the possible expense of the transaction. Atletico Madrid were eager to recoup as much of the £120 million they paid to recruit Felix as possible in January, with none of his several suitors willing to agree to that figure.
Chelsea would be willing to sign Felix as part of what might be another pricey summer if a bargain could be negotiated.
Christopher Nkunku has already committed to join from RB Leipzig at the conclusion of the season, while Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is thought to be Chelsea’s top summer target after a productive season in Serie A.
Chelsea have also been approached about signing PSG striker Neymar, whose future was discussed during a recent meeting between Blues co-owner Todd Boehly and Parisian counterpart Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
