According to various news sources, Tottenham Hotspur is still looking for a new head coach and has already begun speaking with Arne Slot of Feyenoord.
Spurs are looking for a long-term replacement for Antonio Conte after his departure at the end of March. Assistant coach Cristian Stellini initially took his position, but after a string of unsuccessful games, he was fired as well. Now serving as interim manager through the rest of the season is Ryan Mason.
The current Premier League campaign is about to come to a finish, and Tottenham still has a chance to qualify for Europe.
The club has met with a number of potential head coach candidates in private. Although Luis Enrique spoke with Spurs last month, negotiations have not moved far, and Tottenham just ended talks with Julian Nagelsmann.
Tottenham’s interest in Dutchman Slot has long been mentioned by various news outlets, but recent Feyenoord involvement in the Eredivisie title fight complicates matters. But now that Rotterdam has been named the new Dutch champions, Spurs have been in touch with him and have had preliminary discussions.
Although Slot is undoubtedly on their shortlist, Tottenham is adamant that they do not have a top candidate and are speaking to others about the position.
In his first season as manager at De Kuip, Slot, who will turn 45 in September, also guided Feyenoord to the final of the Europa Conference League before losing to Jose Mourinho’s Roma at the last hurdle.
Also insisting that he wants the position full-time is interim leader Mason.
In the meantime, as various news publications revealed earlier this week, Tottenham is simultaneously looking for a new director of football, with Phil Giles and Lee Dykes of Brentford among the candidates.
