Chelsea win battle to sign Santos teenager Angelo

Sources have confirmed that Chelsea beat off a number of Premier League opponents to sign Santos prodigy Angelo.

After beginning negotiations with Santos at the beginning of the summer, Chelsea acted rapidly to reach an agreement. The adolescent had drawn interest from Liverpool, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest, but Chelsea outperformed them.

The athlete has already agreed to personal details of the £13 million contract. Barcelona might utilize their first choice, but they intend not to use their right to counter Chelsea’s bid.

The 18-year-old, a veteran of the Santos side with over 120 appearances under his belt, represents Brazil at the Under-20 level. Although he can play anywhere around the front line, a right-sided forward is where he usually plays. Angelo will reportedly report to Chelsea for preseason training, at which point it will be decided whether or not to loan him out for the upcoming season.

Since Todd Boehly took over, Chelsea has started a process to not only rebuild the first team but also attract an abundance of the top young talent in the world to Stamford Bridge.

Angelo’s contract is a continuation of agreements reached with Chelsea this year for fellow South Americans Andrey Santos and Kendry Paez.
