Inter Milan’s unbeaten start to the Serie A season came to an end on Wednesday, as Sassuolo rallied for a 2-1 victory.
Inter remain top of the table with 15 points, but have drawn level with AC Milan after six games as Stefano Pioli’s team triumphed 3-1 against Cagliari. Sassuolo is in ninth place with nine points.
One minute into first-half stoppage time, Denzel Dumfries broke the deadlock for Inter with a low strike into the lower corner of the net.
In the 54th minute, Sassuolo equalized when Nedim Bajrami produced an angled effort from 12 yards that Inter keeper Yann Sommer let to slip past the line.
Domenico Berardi’s stunning drive from distance into the bottom corner clinched the visitors’ triumph nine minutes later.
Late in the game, the Inter boss was shown a yellow card for dissent.
Inter play Salernitana in Serie A on Saturday before visiting Benfica in the Champions League group stage on Oct. 3.
