Sergio Ramos returned to Sevilla for the first time since leaving in 2005, as the club gained its first win of the season against Las Palmas on Sunday.

Following his summer transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, the 37-year-old centre-back started the 1-0 triumph at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Ramos, who left Sevilla for Real Madrid 18 years ago, much to the chagrin of many Andalucian fans, was greeted warmly upon his homecoming.

He executed a strong chest block to prevent Las Palmas from grabbing the lead. When he collided with Las Palmas forward Sory Kaba in the area, the experienced defender was also denied a penalty.

Dodi Lukebakio, a Belgian winger, put Sevilla ahead after 71 minutes when he shot home from close range after a rebound dropped into his reach.

Sevilla kept their first clean sheet of the season, with Ramos at the heart of the defensive, after four defeats in all competitions.
