Fight fans around the world are anticipating the next UFC 289 with great excitement following the spectacular fights at UFC Vegas 74. The main event, featuring Amanda Nunes vs. Irene Aldana, the current female bantamweight champion, is the center of attention. Fans of mixed martial arts can also anticipate an exciting co-main event featuring Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush.
This occasion is unquestionably exciting and promises to provide a fantastic night of action.
UFC president Dana White asserts that there are questions about Nunes’ present skill set. White spoke on the much awaited UFC 289 main event during the press conference for UFC Vegas 74. He showed enthusiasm for the fight but voiced doubts about Nunes’ skills. White outright questioned whether Nunes still possesses the same dominating qualities that helped her win the title.
White’s enthusiasm was evident when he was asked what he thought of the UFC 289 main event. He said that the UFC staff had been talking about the fight even before the press conference. He was confident that the contest would be exciting, but he had doubts about Nunes’ current talents.
White noted that Nunes’ hunger and tenacity would be put to the test in the forthcoming fight. The UFC president questioned whether Nunes still retained the killer instincts she demonstrated when she won the championship title back in July 2022 given her wealth, a flourishing personal life, and a loving family.
White added, “The thing that I love about it is obviously Amanda Nunes and Aldana is such a savage, you know what I mean. I think it’s gonna be one of those fights where how hungry is Amanda still, you know. Amanda’s got a lot of money, she’s got a great life. She’s got a family, now, you know. Is she still the same killer with the same killer instinct that she had when she got the title. Because, you know, Aldana is. We know what to expect from Aldana.”
In an unexpected turn of events, Nunes recently cut ties with the American Top Team, the gym where she had spent a considerable amount of time working out before UFC 289 began.
She stated that she wanted to start a new chapter in her life in an interview with Jon Anik.
Nunes clarified her departure, stating, “Don’t get me wrong, you know, I guess I want to move on with my life. It’s not – nothing’s wrong; I just want to, like, move on, you know! See what is there in my own.”
