Hakim Ziyech to PSG

According to sources speaking to Nova Sports, Paris Saint-Germain is “extremely unhappy” with Chelsea following the breakdown of Hakim Ziyech‘s loan deal.

The 29-year-old was in Paris on Tuesday night prepared to finalize the agreement and had appeared poised to join the Ligue 1 winners until the end of the season.

Ziyech was close to leaving Stamford Bridge, but a string of errors with the paperwork required to finalize the transaction — errors for which PSG has blamed Chelsea — prevented him from doing so.

In an effort to expedite the transaction, PSG filed an appeal with the Legal Committee of the Professional Football League (LFP). They claimed that Chelsea’s failure to sign the documents twice was a factor in the third submission arriving beyond the 11 p.m. deadline.

However, the LFP declined to approve Ziyech’s loan move on Wednesday morning after reviewing the evidence provided to them. As a result, the player was forced to return to Chelsea along with numerous new hires who were brought in to take his place.

PSG is “bouncing,” “extremely upset,” according to sources close to the club, who also shockingly added that Chelsea “act like the largest club in the world when buying players, unfortunately they don’t when it is a player heading the opposite way.”

Chelsea splashed the dough on pricey signings throughout the majority of the January transfer window as Todd Boehly attempts to inject fresh quality into Graham Potter’s underperforming team.

In the waning moments of the window, a British record transfer for Enzo Fernandez of Benfica was approved. Significant sums of money were also spent earlier in January on Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, and Malo Gusto.

Interesting enough, Chelsea did not lose any players, which gives Potter a difficult time choosing which three players to add to his Champions League team for the upcoming season.

The Blues will play Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. They are now ranked 10th in the Premier League, some 21 points behind league leaders Arsenal who also have a game in hand.
